(Woodland, CA) – Want to learn more about how to start a garden? The Hannah and Herbert Bauer Memorial Community Garden, sponsored by the Yolo County Health Department and located on the west side of 137 N. Cottonwood Avenue in Woodland, is hosting two free community “Gardening 101” classes in March.

These one-hour classes on March 15 and March 19 will cover gardening basics, such as how to prepare your soil for planting, what to plant for a summer garden, and an introduction to integrative pest management (pesticide-free approach to gardening). No gardening experience is required, only an interest in gardening. Gloves and shoes for working in the dirt are recommended.

Classes are taught by the Master Gardeners of Yolo County. Class schedule as follows:

Saturday, March 15, 10 to 11 a.m.
Wednesday, March 19, 5:15 to 6:15 p.m.

Pre-registration is required. Please contact Rebecca Tryon at the Yolo County Health Department with questions or to register for one of the classes: (530) 666-8640 or rebecca.tryon@yolocounty.org. Note: in the event of heavy rain, class will be canceled.
