Subsidized Employment Program Helps Employers and Job-Seekers
(Woodland, CA) – Employers in Yolo County now have an opportunity to cut employment costs by hiring Yolo County residents through the county’s Subsidized Employment Program. This new program, administered through the Yolo County Department of Employment & Social Services, incentivizes local employers while assisting eligible low-income job seekers otherwise unable to find employment.
The Subsidized Employment Program reimburses participating employers eligible employee wages for up to a year through the CalWORKs Employment Services Program. Jobs made available through the program are not meant to displace current employees, and may be, but are not limited to, entry level positions. While the Yolo County Department of Employment & Social Services provides potential employee applicants to participating employers, the employer is fully in control of deciding who to hire. The employee is also responsible for providing supervision and training.
“While the economy is improving, these are still challenging times for many,” said Yolo County Board of Supervisors Chair Don Saylor. “The Subsidized Employment Program will help businesses expand capacity while helping the unemployed get back into the workforce.”
