Adult Protective Services

Adult Protective Services (APS) is a state-mandated program that provides information and referral, assessment, and case management services to elderly (65 and older) and dependent adults (18-64) who are at risk of abuse, neglect or exploitation by self or others.  APS provides intervention activities which safeguard the well-being of elders and dependent adults suffering from or at risk of abuse or neglect, including self-neglect.

Dependent and elder adults constitute a significant and identifiable segment of the population and they may be at higher risk for abuse.  Yolo County APS responds to an average of 46 abuse reports per month.  APS maintains a 24-hour hotline, 7 days per week, to receive reports of elder abuse and neglect.

Eligibility: Any dependent adult 18 through 64 years of age and elders 65 years of age or older who are the subject of suspected physical or financial abuse, neglect, abandonment, abduction, isolation, deprivation of goods or services or other treatment with resulting pain or mental suffering.
