Draft Local Strategic Workforce Development Plan for 2017-2020 Released
(Woodland, CA) - The Yolo County Workforce Innovation Board has released a draft of its Local Strategic Workforce Development Plan for 2017-2020 for public comment. The plan is available for review online at www.yoloworks.org (select Workforce Innovation Board button and then Draft Local Plan-Public Comment).
The Local Strategic Workforce Development Plan identifies the local board’s intended strategies to achieve state goals related to workforce development as required by Section 108 of the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act of 2014. The previous five year plan was approved by the Yolo County Board of Supervisors in 2013. This new plan is a three-year modification of the original plan and will serve as the framework for the development of workforce education and training programs.
Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act programs are administered locally by the Yolo County Health & Human Service Agency with services provided by the America’s Job Center of CaliforniaSM, formerly known as the One-Stop. Funding for these programs comes from the U.S. Department of Labor and is administered by the California Employment Development Department.
The Workforce Innovation Board will be accepting comments on the draft plan January 30 to March 1, 2017. Comments can be submitted by phone (530) 406-4458 or email yoloWIB@yolocounty.org. Interested residents may also attend the Workforce Innovation Board Executive Committee meeting where the plan will be discussed on February 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the Yolo County Health & Human Services Agency, 25 N. Cottonwood Street in Woodland.
