The following changes are not inclusive of all code changes.  They are a brief summary of changes that may have an impact on your project.

Established design is to be based on either the California Residential Code or the California Building Code butnot both, unless the proposed structure or elements exceed the design limitation in this code and the designer is specifically directed to use the CBC.

Defines an Accessory Structure as a structure that is accessory to and incidental to that of the dwelling(s) and that is located on the same lot.

301.2.1.1.1

Sunrooms shall comply with AAMA/NPEA/NSA 2100 and for the purpose of applying the criteria of AAMA/NPEA/NSA 2100 based on its intended use, sunrooms shall be identified as one of 5 Categories by the owner or owner agent in the construction documents.

Wind Speed Maps are added and based on ASCE-7-10 Ultimate Design Wind Speed.

R302.1

Unprotected roof overhang is allowed up to 2 feet from the property line but in no case can an overhang be less than 2 feet with the exception for garages which may extend four inches beyond the exterior wall.

Exempts glazing installed perpendicular to a door in a closed position and within 24 inches of the door if it is on the hinge side of the door.

Requires new dwellings must be ready for EV charger installation.
