Pomona Fund Requests

Requests for 2013-14 Funds Due February 18, 2014; Awards Made March 11, 2014

The Yolo County Board of Supervisors welcomes your application for project funding. Annually, the Board has funds available for appropriation from the Pomona Fund. The Pomona Fund is a funding stream resulting from a statewide settlement to counties from a suit against tobacco companies. These are unrestricted funds that can be allocated by the Board for any purposes. The Board has developed the following guidelines for use of these funds:

  • Priority is given to programs that advance the Board goal to enhance and sustain the safety net, and accomplish tactical plan initiatives
  • Allocated funds are utilized for one-time or short-term expenditures
  • Funds are leveraged as seed money for new programs with the intent the approved program becomes self-sustaining in a defined period
  • Funding is accessed as a match to grant opportunities to leverage additional revenues

Any request for funding should conform to one or more of these guidelines.

Interested applicants should complete the attached Request for Funding and submit to a Board Member or the County Administrator. All requests will be presented at a Board meeting for full Board consideration.

Following approval of the funding request, applicant will enter into an agreement with the County which will outline the expectations of the funding recipient to provide quarterly status reports on the project and to deliver a final report outlining the achievements of the project or program. Funding will be made in quarterly installments with the first allocation at time of funding approval. Failure to provide required reports may result in a request to return the funding provided.

The Board retains all authority to use these funds in any manner regardless of these guidelines or receipt of funding requests.
