The Prevention staff operate a variety of trainings, activities and programs which educate people and promotes community service.  These are designed to build Youth-Adult Partnerships which promote positive communities which value youth input and provide opportunities for young people to be active leaders and resources.  They also seek to facilitate collaboration among organizations and individuals who are concerned with alcohol, drug and mental health related issues.

 

Friday Night Live Mentoring

Peer to peer mentoring program where high school age youth are trained to mentor middle school age youth on a variety of life skills and alcohol, tobacco and other drug topics.  Provides opportunities for young people to be in ongoing mutually beneficial, caring relationships which strengthen a young person's resiliency to the challenges they face.  Research has shown that mentoring relationships are linked to a long term positive youth development outcomes.

 

Friday Night Live (FNL)

A youth development program for high school age youth that builds partnerships for positive and healthy youth development which engage youth as active leaders and resources in their communities. 

 

Friday Night Live Kids (FNLK)

A program designed for elementary school-aged youth in 4th through 6th grade.  It supports the school and helps keep it safe while kids learn and have fun!  The program uses a curriculum called “Too Good For Drugs,” which is created by the Mendez foundation.  The curriculum focuses on fostering positive communication, goal setting, decision making skills, and how to overcome the pressure to use drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes.  FNLK provides a positive environment in which children can have fun while learning. 

 

Club Live

A youth development program for middle school age youth where they can experience fun and meaningful skill building activities as well as help implement them. 

 

Yolo County FNL Youth Council

High school age youth from Yolo county who help plan and implement youth led activities and conferences for youth at the county, regional and state level.
